Hi, I'm Sarah

I’m the face behind Blueberry Hill Photography. I’m a wife, a mom, a lifelong Alaskan, and lover of all things 90’s.

I’ve been documenting families and their memories since 2015. From those first wrinkly-toe moments in the hospital to chasing toddlers in fields full of fireweed— no moment is too big or too small.

My photo philosophy really changed once I became a mom. Up until that point, I didn’t really understand how important photos could be at stopping time. Once my babies no longer easily fit in my hands, pictures were the only tangible thing I had to remind me of those early days, and I became obsessed with documenting my own kids— as well as documenting that time for others.

These days are messy, exhausting, and gorgeous. I like to think that my photography style is storytelling with a side of magic realism, and I hope that one day, the photos we create together will be your own children’s most prized-possessions.

Chances are if you follow any photographer in Anchorage (maybe even Alaska!?) you've seen this spot show up on your social media. It is stunning in it's own right, but it is also my favorite weather back-up plan for photos.

The early winter months in Anchorage hold a special kind of magic. The first snow seems to quiet the whole world and I love the draw to slow down and be cozy. In a lot of ways, it is reminiscent to those early days at home with a newborn. I really love that this session seemed to capture that sense of hygge (the art of coziness) and quiet.

I’ve had two maternity sessions with Sarah, and both times she was willing to freeze while keeping a fun, upbeat attitude the whole time. She would check the back of the camera and exclaim, “Oh yeah!” “More of that!” Her encouragement and excitement helped me drop into my emotions and because of that her work truly captured the joy of my pregnancy. Not to mention, she also helped me style the shoot by sending me dress ideas and she knew of fantastic locations. I just showed up and had fun!

In December my family had the wonderful opportunity to have our photos taken by Sarah. We booked a Christmas mini session and it was nothing short of magical! We’ve done mini sessions with other photographers before and it was a disaster every time. This session was not rushed in any way and was relaxing from start to finish. My family does not do well in front of the camera but somehow Sarah captured the love and goofiness of us all without any of our awkwardness.
